Abel, which designs and makes pumps that have a diaphragm and high-pressure piston pumps to serve harsh, demanding applications, involving abrasive or corrosive substances and fluids with high solids content, is complementary to the existing IDEX portfolio of products and expertise.

"We foresee Abel benefiting from joining a company with broad knowledge in pumps and valves and a focus on solving our customers' toughest fluids challenges," IDEX CEO and president Eric Ashleman said.

Abel will join IDEX's Fluid and Metering Technologies segment.

Subject to regulatory approvals, the acquisition should close during the March quarter.

In September 2015, Hillenbrand acquired Abel Pumps from Roper Technologies for US$106 million in cash.
