The underground mining equipment manufacturer held a ribbon cutting on April 8 for the opening of the location, which is now 15,000ft2 (1,400m2) larger.

In addition to two 10-US-ton (9t) cranes, it now has 10 assembly bays versus its previous five, and separate storage building for parts.

An external loading ramp for rig deliveries is also part of the plan. The project was initiated in the December quarter of 2018 and completed in the March quarter of this year.

"We expect to double our production," vice president of operations Bob Wraight said, adding it accessed local trades when possible.

Based in the southern Georgian Bay region of Ontario, MacLean has branch offices across Canada and in Mexico, Peru, South Africa and Australia.
