The acquisition, terms of which were not released, adds to DSI's intelligent digital solutions and services portfolio. Edvirt will continue to develop new services for DSI and operate as a standalone company.

Sandvik's takeover of DSI, announced early this year, will likely close by mid-year and both DSI and Edvirt will become part of the Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions.

"DSI Underground SMART and Edvirt will be able to offer an unmatched virtual training offering supporting safety and productivity across the underground development cycle," DSI CEO Michael Reich said.

"Edvirt is a great story of innovation becoming an industry standard. We are happy to enter a new phase, increasing our digital service and product portfolio," Edvirt co-founder and head of business development Eric Odkrans, added.
