For the plant extension two Polycom 24/17 high-pressure grinding rolls (HPGRs) and two ball mills will be used for comminuting the copper ore for a new concentrator at a rate of 60,000t/d.

To increase the throughput of the existing concentrator from 51,000 to 60,000t/d of copper ore, Thyssenkrupp is supplying a Polycom 24/17 HPGR, belt conveyor systems with accessories, a comprehensive electrical package as well as structural steel work. The package also includes comprehensive services.

The Toquepala mine is located in the Andes. At the surface the open pit is 2.5km across and more than 700m deep. It is one of the world’s largest copper mines.
