Quellaveco, which will be Anglo's first Peruvian operation, forms one of the largest greenfield projects in the Moquegua region.

It has estimated ore reserves of 1.3 billion tonnes, containing around 7.5 million tonnes of copper. Anglo expects to produce first copper during 2022.

The feasibility study portion of the CPR project that DRA is in charge of is expected to be completed by March 2020.

Pierre Julien, executive vice president of DRA Americas, said: "Securing this strategic project strongly bolsters our ambitions and plans for growth in Peru, and we are excited to partner with Anglo American to ensure a positive outcome for this strategic project."
