Royal IHC turns up the heat for Kenmare's Moma

Mozambique operation gets two reheaters

IHC Robbins, the group's Australia-based business unit for the mineral sands and alluvial mining industry, recently joined forces with Pyromak to grow as a service provider and supplier of fluidised bed drying (FBD) systems.

According to IHC, the new order from Kenmare Resources, is a result of this partnership.

The purchase is also an extension of the relationship between Kenmare and Royal IHC, as, in October, the supplier delivered a third mining dredger to Moma. Mining at the operation is principally undertaken using dredges that float in artificial mining ponds.

The indirect electric reheaters, in turn, IHC explained, would allow for uniformed reheating of products by suspending the material in a fluid-like state, exposing the surface of the material to the heaters' elements. The discharge temperature is then measured and voltage adjusted as needed to control that temperature.

"If no reheating is required, the control system switches off the power supply to the elements, but the fluidising fan continues to operate, allowing material to flow through the reheater," the supplier said.

"The reheater can adjust to changes in feed and ambient conditions rapidly, and also reduces operational costs."

Neither delivery details nor financial details of the transaction were released.
