Boart Longyear focuses on a number of successful programmes to keep everyone safe

The milestone was met July 5, and beats its all-time company-wide low LTI rate of 0.10 recorded in 2018 as well as its lowest number of lost-time injuries on record.

Boart Longyear pointed to its new critical risk management programmes as well as a simplified company field standards support employees with their understanding, embracing and practicing of an exceptional safety culture. Its safety initiatives include THINK (Take the time, Hazard Recognition, Identify the risk, Necessary controls applied and Keep safety first) as well as Stop Work Authority, which authorises and mandates employees to immediately stop any work not compliance with safety standards.

The company also follows the Golden Rules of Safety, the Rules of the Road, and Make it Personal Cards.

"This is a significant accomplishment for Boart Longyear and is a great outcome resulting from the efforts of everyone in the company living and breathing our safety culture," CEO and president Jeff Olsen said.

US-headquartered Boart Longyear employs 4,900 individuals, including supervisors, drillers, driller assistants, mechanics, technicians, and welders, manufacturing plant personnel, distribution centres and warehouse personnel and support staff.
