IAMGOLD has reported a fire at its Cote gold mine project in Ontario.

The fire occurred at the concrete batch plant on Feb. 24.

The company was able to extinguish the fire quickly. No injuries were reported.

Activities resumed at the site the next morning. IAMGOLD is now investigating the cause of the fire, and whether it will impact ongoing construction activities.

The gold mine is planning to begin commercial production in the second half of 2023, with an estimated mine life of 18 years.

IAMGOLD is targeting 489,000 ounces of average yearly production in the first five years of the mine, with a life of mine average production estimated at 367,000 ounces of gold.

The Cote gold project contains combined measured and indicated resources of 189.6 million tonnes at 0.63 g/t of gold for 3.82 million ounces of gold.
