The work at the multi-billion dollar project, which Anglo American is aiming to restart, is projected to take about 16 months. More than 450 individuals will be needed, Grana confirmed.

The value of the tender, which was used to award the contract, is US$53.9 million.

Fluor first won the Quellaveco contract, specifically to perform construction management and early works execution, in 2014.

According to a Reuters report, the open-pit copper mine could produce 225,000 US tons/204,117 tonnes. It is permitted, but development had been stalled for the last five years. An Anglo official recently told the newswire the mine could come to fruition by the end of the year.
