Earlier this year, RCT installed its ControlMaster Guidance Automation technology on two of Siou's Cat R2900G underground loaders. It also supplied two automation centres linked to the solution.
Guidance Automation is designed to enable mobile machines to operate with minimal intervention from machine operators, who are located in the automation centres either on the surface of the mine or in a secure location in the underground mine.
"The automation solution improves safety on site by relocating mine personnel away from the mine face and reducing unplanned maintenance downtime by eliminating machine operator errors," RCT said.
RCT's staff also provided training to the machine operators and will continue to offer ongoing aftersales support to underground contractor AUMS.
Last month, Endeavour Mining announced it would be acquiring SEMAFO to "create a leading West African gold producer".
The conversion of Siou from an open-pit to an underground operation started in 2018.
