Nerospec SK will be a German entity that leverages Nerospec's experience in developing underground wireless communication and machine control technology, said the companies.

"Founding Nerospec SK is part of our strategy of expanding our global business and delivering a promising new generation of specialised underground mining technology products" says Michael Bruno, chief executive and founder of Nerospec.

Nerospec's previous projects include a proximity detection device that intervenes with the control of the machine speed during crawl events.

It has also developed trackless mining machine interface and control solutions such as the Oscon 3, which can slow down or apply the brakes to prevent vehicles from losing control or running away on the decline.

"Our objective is to innovate underground wireless connectivity solutions, to perfect data acquisition and control systems, to enhance edge computing, and to apply the industries best-in-class automation technologies," added Bruno. "In so doing, we are advancing the automation of ore extraction processes, specifically within the harsh and unforgiving underground mining environment".

Mortimer Glinz, chief executive of Schmidt Kranz Group, added: "Our combined underground mining knowledge providing for the efficient implementation of our digital solutions will raise productivity to a new level. We support our customers with reliable cutting-edge technology, keeping their miners safe and at the same time increasing the transparency of their operations."
