The Canadian Institute for Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM) and Sudbury museum Science North have joined forces to create a mining game, to be released in May 2023.

The digital game will encourage players to learn more about modern mining practices, and teach players about the contributions the industry makes to society.

The game will also include information on careers in the industry, as well as the mining industry's role in creating a more sustainable future.

The game will be available in English and French.

The programme will also include lesson plans and activities for teachers to use in their classrooms.

CIM and Science Earth will use the game to create more support for the industry across the country, as well as ensure a skilled workforce. It also hopes to inspire students to consider a future in mining, geology, and engineering.

The two organisations will also reach out to First Nations communities in northern Ontario, where Science North is based, to encourage them to engage with the digital project.

Science North also operates Dynamic Earth, which provides hands-on experiences on mining, geology, and critical minerals, as well as an underground tour of mining operations.
