Botha was most recently a commissioning manager of the GG6 expansion project for Exxaro Resources, and will be the fourth female president of SAIMM in the organisation's 125-year history.

"This is a role that would not be possible without Exxaro's dedication to women empowerment and overall diversity, equity and inclusion," Botha said.

"I believe my role is to find innovative solutions, pertaining to the empowerment of the minority and future generations to drive the SAIMM's sustainability."

SAIMM is focused on disseminating knowledge and assisting members with sourcing information about technological developments in mining and metallurgy.
