Adapting post-pandemic with remote coaching

Immersive Technologies releases Remote Trainer Station

The RTS combines remote control and video conferencing between a simulator cabin and the trainer's desk located in separate spaces.

Alongside video and audio, the trainer can also see behaviour monitoring visualisations and simulator controls, which enables the trainer to coach the trainee as if he or she was standing next to them.

"As mines push to resume operations, Immersive Technologies has been actively supporting a large number of customers in the development of strategic workforce plans to prepare for rapid skills development and an uptick in operator recertification," CEO David Anderson said.

"These plans help miners think through steps to digitise training and assessment methods and reduce risk exposure associated with close contact training and in-cab coaching. A common thread that has emerged is the relationship between operator skill and mining business continuity, especially as mines plan for production recovery and cost control, two things directly impacted by operator behaviour."

Immersive also has confirmed the upgrade of Remote Support Connection technologies and tools, which provide technical support and methods to train the trainer.

The number of trainers with TrainerAdvantage certifications accessing Immersive's online instructor-led training courses is growing, and the company has also started hosting its User Group Forums in a live format online to share best practices.

"We are working closely with customers to evolve products and services in line with emerging workforce challenges," Anderson said.

Immersive has simulator modules deployed in 45 countries.
