The A$138 million (US$96 million) contract will support the development of 143 kilometres of rail for the Eliwana iron ore project.

The scope of works includes the construction of about 65km of rail formation, covering earthworks, roadworks, drainage works and building of bridges and precast structures.

Based on the contract, the project should be finished by late 2020.

NRW's CEO and managing director Jules Pemberton said: "Following the successful acquisition of the BGC Contracting business, NRW's operational delivery capabilities in the Pilbara are further enhanced through the addition of the highly skilled BGC workforce into the group, together with the strong technical skill set to safely and successfully deliver the large bridges and concrete structures required on the project."

NRW Contracting will arrive on site soon, and the peak workforce for the project is estimated at 400 people, using more than 140 pieces of major plant in the process.
