The company said the operation is producing at commercial level as of May 31.

Since its January 31 first pour, it had continued to ramp up its mining, crushing, stacking, the irrigation of the heap leach pad and operation of the ADR plant.

"Öksüt was delivered on time and under budget," president and CEO Scott Perry said.

"Centerra now has three producing operations which are expected to generate meaningful free cash flow as we continue to deliver growth and value for shareholders."

Centerra also operates the Kumtor gold mine in the Kyrgyz Republic and the Mount Milligan copper-gold mine in British Columbia, Canada, alongside Öksüt.

The openpit mine in central Turkey was idled for several weeks in April because of safety stoppages to limit the spread of coronavirus.
