As part of the contract, Maxam will supply the open-pit operation with its high-energy bulk explosive Rioflex and other solutions.

The Spain-based explosives company said through work like this it was expanding its operations and global presence, which currently spans more than 80 industrial facilities and subsidiaries in more than 50 countries.

It also claimed to be the second largest operator of blasting solutions for mining, quarries and infrastructure in terms of international presence.

Maxam's Rioflex is an ammonium nitrate-based watergel explosive, which it said represented the latest development in bulk technology.
