Metso has for decades been supplying the mining industry with rubber linings. That has given them the experience and advantage needed to build a unique and totally customizable truck body. The Metso Truck Body is the result of tight collaboration between Metso and its customers and is the perfect match to retrofit bodies to any fleet of haul trucks - either existing or new.

TAILOR-MADE TO FIT INDIVIDUAL CUSTOMER NEEDS

The Metso Truck Body is a custom-built, one-piece optimized hybrid. It is not a typical traditional lightweight steel box with a retro-fitted rubber lining nor a suspended truck body. It is tailor-made to fit each customer's needs, no matter what kind of material they are hauling, and it is available for all major truck manufacturers like Caterpillar, Komatsu, and Liebherr, among others.

A MODULAR COMBINATION OF RUBBER, POLYMER AND STEEL

Metso's more than 40 years of experience as a global manufacturer of truck bed linings from its own rubber-molding plants, as well as its extensive laboratory and on-site testing, have given it a deep understanding of rubber and polymer characteristics in any given climate and hauling operation. Those energy-absorbing characteristics dampen the impact forces from loading and hauling and allow Metso to construct a high-strength steel body that is lighter in comparison to any existing solution.

The lining consists of a modular system of different polymers optimized to further strengthen the heavily exposed impact zones in the truck body and thus withstand the impact of loading and the wear of hauling and unloading. The rubber lining lasts up to six times longer than a traditional steel lining, and the modular construction makes it possible to make selective changeouts of only the worn modules thereby minimizing both the time and the work spent in the service center.

Less noise and vibration mean a lot less stress on the driver

INCREASED EFFICIENCY EQUALS A LOWER OPEX

In combination with Metso's flexible lining, carry-back is reduced, additionally increasing the hauling efficiency when hauling sticky materials, such as coal or iron, or when hauling is performed in an arctic climate. These benefits have a direct effect on OPEX, not only by increasing the payload - but also by lowering fuel consumption.

METSO TRUCK BODY IN COMPARISON WITH CONVENTIONAL TRUCK BOXES

Conventional rubber-lined truck boxes are well known for increasing wear life while minimizing maintenance, while steel-lined lightweight boxes are known for increasing payload. The Metso Truck Body does it all at significantly lower OPEX, thereby filling a new market space.

SUSTAINABLE SOLUTION AND ENHANCED WORKING ENVIRONMENT

The lowered fuel consumption furthers the positive environmental impact, as it decreases the CO2 footprint. In addition to all this, the rubber lining significantly enhances the working environment for the drivers by lowering the noise levels by 50% (10-15 dB) and reducing vibrations by up to 97%. Less noise and vibration mean a lot less stress on the driver. In the words of one driver: "Once you have driven a truck equipped with a Metso Truck Body, you don't want to go back to the ordinary trucks."
