The facility is equipped for drying, grinding, crushing, pulverising and soil screening capabilities for core samples, RC chips, rock samples, trench samples and soil samples.

"Our new Val-d'Or lab strengthens SGS' footprint in Canada and, importantly, enables SGS to service mining organisations in Quebec through a local facility," vice president of minerals Lawrence Ng said.

SGS now has 150 geochemical laboratories in 40 countries. Some other Canadian locations include Lakefield, Cochrane, Redlake and Sudbury, Ontario, and Vancouver, British Columbia.
